Born in 1996 and originally from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana near Lucca, Jasmine Paolini has established herself as a leading light in world tennis. After an extraordinary 2024 in which Paolini won her first WTA 1000 title in Dubai, reached the finals at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, took Olympic gold in the doubles in Paris alongside Sara Errani and emerged victorious in the Billie Jean King Cup with the Italian national team, 2025 has strengthened her status among the sport’s elite.

On 17 May, 2025, Paolini etched her name in history by becoming the first Italian in 40 years to win the Italian Open. The following day, she accomplished a memorable feat by also triumphing in the women's doubles, again alongside Sara Errani. These victories propelled her to number four in the world rankings, matching Francesca Schiavone's record for an Italian player. With two WTA 1000 singles titles and four in doubles, Paolini is now the most decorated Italian tennis player in history.
